Blogging Problems

I have to admit that I have very little time to update on the regular.
I was never very good at keeping a diary, and always think to post or reflect on my days when it is LEAST convenient. Like, when I am supposed to be working, *shock.*

AND! Another problem I face is that I have very little structure. I tend to start with an idea and then my brain will go all "A.D.D." on me and I have a million thoughts that race through - most of which I assume EVERYONE wants to hear. This is not the case, ha. Apparently, that whole "Concrete detail - commentary, commentary" deal with writing papers in school never struck a chord with me.

Knowing these are the troubles I face, I would like to thank any and all who stick with me while I try to make more sense of my thoughts and put them into a cohesive arrangement that is appealing; or at the very least readable.

A thought on keeping your own brain under control - making sure you don't get sucked in to a negative cycle:
Sometimes, we have bad days. This is fine. But know that you are master of your day. You may not be able to control everything that goes on around you, but you CAN control how you respond to those things.
If something is stressing you out that you cannot change, understand that the way you are seeing it at that moment is only one way of seeing it. Change your perspective.
I'm not saying "ignore your problems and they will go away," I am merely suggesting that it is not the end of the world when things do not go the way you planned or expected, or were even prepared for.
It helps to acknowledge, first, that you have no control - so stop whining about how you don't.
Then understand that the way you respond will effect other people.
Think about the consequences of the actions you are about to take - or did take, if you feel you had a hand in "messing things up."
Understand that the WORST CASE SCENARIO is really not that bad. Will you disappoint people? Yourself? Will you be late? Will it cost you?
Then remember this:
IT'S NOT WORTH BEING STRESSED OUT ABOUT. It's ok to feel what you feel, but don't obsess. If you notice that you are particularly focused on that topic, try to distract yourself. Think of some happy thoughts, pick up an engaging activity - come back to this topic when you have had time to calm down. Generally you find that your initial reaction was an over-reaction. And that what you are really upset about is either that you didn't seem the problem coming, or you didn't plan for it. And that's essentially it, isn't it? That you have no control.
So let it go, man.
Just let it go.
Breathe.
Now, doesn't that feel better?

If not, I have hugs for you too.
